Bush losing a Red State?

Looks like the Bush Bros. are losing the (barely) Red State of Florida for the GOP. In this poll just released yesterday, only 37% of those polled in Florida approve of Bush's job performance, and only 31% approve of his handling of Iraq. Only 36% believe invading Iraq was the "right thing."

The results were along party lines, with 71% of Republicans approving of Bush's job performance, and 61% approving of his handling of Iraq. 69% of Republicans thought invading Iraq was the "right thing." It puzzles me why this breaks down along party lines, but I guess there's no accounting for blind loyalty.

The poll has some other interesting results. Jeb Bush is even less popular than big bro Dubya. If Jeb ran for president in 2008, only 33% of those polled said they would "definitely" or "probably" vote for him.

The favorite GOP candidate for president in 2008 is Giuliani (oh please, please nominate him!) and the favorite Dem candidate is Hillary Clinton (yikes!). McCain was the second pick for GOP and Kerry was the second pick for the Dems. Either McCain or Giuliani would beat Clinton among those polled (281 Democrats and 301 Republicans). All of this is a little suspect because there were only a limited number of choices for either party's nominee. I'm guessing the eventual nominees for both parties are not on either list.

OK, then.
