Bonnaroo 2006

Promoters have announced the preliminary lineup for the 2006 Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, June 16-18 in Manchester, Tenn. According to this Billboard article, "though Bonnaroo's roots are firmly planted in the jam-band scene, this year's lineup tilts more toward mainstream and indie rock..."

Bonnaroo is a production of Superfly Presents and Knoxville Tennessee based A.C. Entertainment, the brainchild of Ashley Capps.

Ashley Capps is a legendary promoter around these parts, but first and foremost a music lover. He has long been instrumental in promoting the performing arts in Knoxville and East Tennessee. He was involved in the recent restoration of the grand and historic Tennessee Theater, where A.C. Entertainment has put on several concert series featuring an amazing lineup of performers ranging from Wynton Marsalis and Dave Brubeck to Bonnie Raitt and Ricky Skaggs. He also produces Sundown in the City, a free outdoor concert series at Downtown Knoxville's Market Square, which last year featured performances by the Neville Brothers, Buddy Miller, Steve Winwood, and more. (If you're ever coming over this way, you would do well to plan your visit around an event at the Tennessee Theater or Sundown in the City.)

Here's the official Bonnaroo 2006 website with the latest news on the lineup and other festival information. Attendance will be capped at 80,000 this year. Tickets go on sale Feb. 11th.
