The North Carolina Division of the United Daughters of the Confederacy printed postcards bearing the image of a Ku Klux Klan flag to raise funds to purchase the banner for display in the North Carolina Room of the Museum of the Confederacy (now the American Civil War Museum) in Richmond, Virginia. The UDC venerated the Klan and elevated it to near-mythic status.
