Survivors have a voice

December 10, 2005 - I spent all of today in a church in Jackson, Mississippi for the Katrina Survivor's Assembly. The meeting, organized by the People's Hurricane Relief Fund, was composed of some 150 survivors from around the country, and about the same number of allies from Oregon to New York and all points in-between.

Touching down in New Orleans

December 8, 2005 - A hush came over the plane as we started our descent into New Orleans. Everyone was looking out the windows, taking in the devastation below. "It makes a big difference when you actually see it, with your own eyes, doesn't it?" said the woman next to me.
