ALEC fights coal ash protections on polluters' behalf

April 30, 2012 - Embroiled in controversy for its role in passing "Stand Your Ground", the American Legislative Exchange Council also worked to block federal regulation of toxic power plant waste that's contaminating groundwater supplies across the country -- and it turns out that the group has close ties to major coal ash polluters.  

Companies flee from backing right-wing advocacy group

April 12, 2012 - At least five major companies and one charitable foundation have pulled support for the American Legislative Exchange Council, a corporate-backed advocacy group in state legislatures, after a growing campaign links the group to voter ID and "Stand Your Ground" gun laws.
