Tennessee minimum wage bill scheduled for vote

May 11, 2006 - The Tennessee House of Representatives will vote today on the new minimum wage law that will raise the state's minimum wage to $6.15. The bill has also cleared committees in the Senate and a vote there is expected soon. But a funny thing happened on the way to the floor for a vote. Actually, a couple of funny things. Well, not so funny, really.

Tennessee minimum wage update

April 13, 2006 - A proposed Tennessee minimum wage increase was approved by the House Budget subcommittee. But there's a catch. According to a local newspaper report, the bill was amended to exclude restaurant workers who receive tips and part-time workers at movie theaters and "similar businesses". According to the article, Regal Cinema (based in Knoxville) had expressed concerns about the bill.
